Provincial Nominee Programs
Since January 2015, many provinces and territories have created new Express Entry stream program, where each of these provinces nominates immigrants based on the immigrants’ skills, education and work experience to contribute to the economy of that province or territory, and must want to live in the same province. Each province targets specific group of immigrants in order to fill the gap in its labour market shortages, or create employment and business opportunities in the province. Examples for the nomination target categories are business people, students, skilled workers, and semi- skilled workers. If a candidate has been nominated by one of the Canadian provinces, the candidate will receive a nomination form, and once the nomination has been approved, the province will inform the Federal Government of its wish for the nominated candidate to proceed for a permanent resident visa for landing.
